Six weeks in the United States, in an American team. All in English.
I was a Finish Line brand ambassador for years before joining its marketing team near New York. The company has been making bike lubricants and care products since 1988, and I arrived just as it launched BOOSTED™, a new water- and plant-based range.
What made the internship valuable is that everything was done in English, in an American company. I had to change my writing codes: in Belgium a press release reads almost like an article, while American bike press expects you to get straight to the point (who, what, how, why) in an always positive tone.
I built the social media content calendar and came up with Maintenance Monday, a weekly care-tips carousel. I prepared the launch's influencer and press campaign, wrote a press release and five articles for the new website, and edited the BOOSTED™ video, which the brand uses on its Instagram.
The marketing director praised how quickly I adapted and my grasp of the company's economic reality, which early-career communicators often lack: you cannot do everything, so you focus on what has the most impact and costs the least, in money but above all in time.
